CAMTools for Windows
The current version of CAMTools for Windows (32 bit) is Version
1.00.09, 05/2004.
For the prior version, Version 1.00.08,
There are (2) DLL module updates (12/00 and 06/03) and a patch as
of 03/01 that should be applied.
Prior versions (1.00.05/06) were NOT compatible with
CAMTools for DOS (1.30)
A. - Version and Platform Information
Q. What are the current platforms that CAMTools will run on?
A. The current version of CAMTools for Windows, Version 1.00.09, is a 32-bit version! You will need to be running Windows 98/ME/XP/NT as your operating system. Prior versions of CAMTools for Windows (up to Version 1.00.07) will run on Windows 3.XX and Windows 95/98/NT. They were released in 16-bit and 32-bit versions. As of 11/98, support for our CAMTools for DOS product stopped, as well as future upgrades for it. (back to index)
B. - Importing Stock/Mutual Fund Prices
Q. How can I import stock or mutual fund prices into CAMTools if I'm not using DST, or my particular mutual funds aren't supported by DST? Where is the best place to get these prices?
A.
Pricing data can be imported into CAMTools for Windows or
CAMTools for DOS by using one of the choices under the Import,
Fund Prices menu option. We have provided two options, one that
imports Fundscope data files directly, and another that allows
you to define the file layout of the file to be imported. Both
options expect a CSV format (comma separated value), which is an
industry standard file format. Where to get stock or mutual fund
prices is a harder question. We believe the commercial product
Fundscope to be an invaluable software tool, and therefore we
have included it as an import capability specifically. Other
clients of ours have been getting prices from AOL or other
Internet sites. One popular file format that has come to our
attention has been the Quicken file format, and hence the menu
option under Import Prices called Convert AOL Quicken Files
(CAMTools for Windows). AOL allows you to create portfolios of
stocks and mutual funds and has the capability to then download
the data to your PC. Instructions for this are as follows: log in
to AOL, then go to the Personal Finance section, then click on
the Portfolios button. If you have not already created a
portfolio, select the Create button, give your portfolio a name,
then use the Add button to add stock or mutual fund companies of
your choice to this portfolio. You can create any number of
portfolios. Once you have a portfolio established, click on the
Display button, which shows the portfolio contents with current
NAV prices and other statistics. Then click on the Download
button, and select the Quicken format for saving this data to
your hard disk. A Download Manager dialog box will appear that
will allow you to name the file and save it in the folder of your
choice. Once this file is saved on your hard drive, you can then
use the CAMTools for Windows menu option, Convert AOL Quicken
Files, located under Import, Fund Prices, to convert the file to
a CSV standard file format, and then use the menu option, Import,
Fund Prices, Fund Prices (User-Defined file format) to actually
import the file data. (back to index)
C. - General Protection Fault or ... Illegal Operation Performed
Q. When I'm running CAMTools for Windows, I sometimes get a message about a general protection error or this program has performed an illegal operation. What should I do and what causes this to happen?
A. Despite the
warning, no one is being protected, and no crime has been
committed. These messages indicate that two programs tried
writing data to the same memory location simultaneously. It may
sound minor, but it is enough to crash your system. Generally,
you can't prevent this problem from happening, but you should
report the problem to your software vendor(s) and/or your
information systems support specialist. Updates or bug fixes may
be available from either party. There are also independent,
third-party solutions that try to intercept these types of
problems and alert you. One well known tool is SystemWorks from
Symantec and another is McAfee Office from Network Associates.. (back to index)
D. - Your connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server
Q. When I'm downloading my DST files, I sometimes get the following message: "The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server. Do you want to reconnect?" What is the cause of this?
A. If you connect
to your ISP through dial-up lines, you may see this message more
times than you'd like. It means that there is a problem with the
remote server (or the phone line), and there's nothing you can do
about it except grit your teeth and try connecting again (or
later). It's also a good idea to contact your ISP and let them
know about the problem, just in case they're not already aware of
it.. (back to index)
E. - DLL is invalid or corrupt
Q. I tried to start CAMTools for Windows but I got a message on the screen saying that one of the DLL files is invalid or corrupt. What should I do?
A. If you see this
message or one similar to this, most likely the program will not
run. The cause? Since the last time you ran it, 1) you either
installed a new application that uses a dynamic link library
(DLL) file with the same name as the one CAMTools for Windows
uses, or 2) there's a problem with the hard drive CAMTools for
Windows is installed on and the file can't be read, or 3) you may
have shut down the system unexpectedly and corrupted the file. If
it's case 1) the two DLL's are probably incompatible, and that's
making the program crash. One solution would to be re-install
CAMTools for Windows. Another would be to contact technical
support from either of the software vendors. If we're talking
case 2, run scandisk and see if any disk errors are detected. Fix
any detected errors, then try to start CAMTools for Windows
again. If unsuccessful, you can try re-installing CAMTools for
Windows again. If case 3, try re-installing again.. (back to index)
F. - Version 1.00.08 Update-Import DLL Module
Q. Why would I want to download and install this DLL module update to CAMTools for Windows, Version 1.00.08?
A. This update
fixes a number of problems encountered using the DST and/or DAZL
file importing routines. Specifically, many of the Variable
Annuity companies for DST are not transmitting the data with any
degree of consistency, and it has come to our attention that some
of the data is simply not being populated in the Price Refresher
File. Therefore, we have revisited the Price Refresher routine
and made a number of improvements to remedy the following
problems: 1) DST Variable Annuity names were not being updated
properly from "Name missing in DST file" errors; and 2)
DST Variable Annuity records being created too slowly (we have
increased the posting speed dramatically). Also, because of the
increasing number of some Variable Annuity product lines, the
Price Refresher record counts were growing in excess of 1,000
records (some in excess of 30,000). Since many of our users are
only interested in a number of sub-accounts, specifically only
the ones their clients are invested in, we have changed the
Account Position file posting routine to also update the NAV of
the respective sub-accounts for Variable Annuities. This will
afford you an acceptable work around to processing Price
Refresher files daily for very large Variable Annuity companies.
Lastly, the processing of DAZL Account Master records has been
dramatically increased. (back to index)
G. - Version 1.00.08 Patch-DAZL Download Program
Q. Why would I want to download and install this patch to CAMTools for Windows, Version 1.00.08?
A. This patch
provides you with the new DAZL download program necessary for
connecting to the DAZL website, and subsequently downloading the
DAZL files. It also has a new camwimpt.dll module that calls the
download program. Both files are necessary for the patch to work.

Q. I just upgraded to CAMTools for Windows (Version 1.00.05, 32-bit) and when I tried to start the program I got an error message stating that the file WININET.DLL was missing. How can I get CAMTools for Windows to start?
A. You need to have
the file WININET.DLL in your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. ( In Windows
XP, this file is located in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder. Copy it
to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. ) CAMTools for Windows needs
access to this file, and generally, this file is installed on
most Windows 95/98/NT computers. You can download a copy of this
file from our website. It's located on the Tech Support -
Upgrades, Patches and E-Mail web page. Unzip the downloaded file
and place a copy of WININET.DLL in your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.
CAMTools for Windows should then start without the error message.

#02-Install Error - Windows 98
Q. I started to
install the new CAMTools for Windows (Version 1.00.05) 32-bit
program on my Windows 98 PC and got a message dialog box stating
something to the effect that this product may not run correctly
under Windows 98. Contact your system or software vendor . . .
Should I install the software? Why would the install do that?
A. You can
definitely install the software without any reservations about it
working or not working. We have tested the DST FTP/Internet
enhancement on Windows 98 PC's and it works fine. The message is
appearing because we have not upgraded our installation
tool/program yet, and Windows 98 is looking for a special
signature that identifies Windows 98 products. We will be
updating the install tool sometime in the future (we hope). This
behavior will also be evident for anyone downloading the demo
files and installing them on Windows 98 PCs. (back to index)
Q. When I import a
DST file using the NEW (1.00.05) Internet/FTP option, the import
option processes the section(s) of file I chose, then I review
and/or print the error report(s), and then I select the Yes
button to delete the processed file, but I've noticed that it
shows up in the list of available files to process again when I
go into this option. Should I process it again? Also, why didn't
it get deleted the first time?
A. The file doesn't
get deleted because we didn't turn this option back on after we
were done beta testing. We have corrected this and we have issued
an interim version, Version 1.00.05a, which is currently shipping
for all new orders or upgrades. If you have already received
Version 1.00.05, we have also posted an interim patch
(CW11605a.ZIP or CW13205a.ZIP) on our support page for you to
download. This patch fixes the problem that can occur when
importing DST files with the NEW Internet/FTP option. At the end
of the import routine, if all of the sections of a file (or
files) have been processed, a message dialog box appears
informing you that there are files that have all of their
sections processed. You are then asked a question about whether
you want to delete these files from your hard disk. A Yes or No
answer is required. If you answer No, the file stays on your hard
drive and the appropriate sections of the file(s) are marked with
a red check mark to signify they were processed and a processed
date is also posted to the file. If you say Yes, the file is
deleted from the hard drive. This is where the problem has been
found. The file does not get deleted from the hard drive!
The issue is further compounded when you select the Process DST
Files menu option again, because the system synchs up the files
on disk with the entries that CAMTools has been keeping and lists
the same file(s) (that you already processed) as being available
for importing (no red check mark or processed date indicating it
was processed). If this was only true for Price Refresher data,
not so bad, but any other data section type will result in duplicate
postings (or more)!
WORK AROUND: If you do not want to download either of the
appropriate version patches, and you already have Version
1.00.05, do not answer YES when asked about
deleting the file(s). You can later return to the Process DST
Files menu option, and delete the file(s) manually. The
individual sections of the file(s) will show the red check mark
and the processed date correctly. (back to index)
Q. I'm trying to
download my DST FTP data files, but I get an error that an FTP
session could not be started? Why would that be? I have Internet
access through a local ISP (or AOL) and I access the web all the
time. What should I do?
A. CAMTools for
Windows (Version 1.00.05 and greater, 32-bit) attempts to connect
to the Internet by automatically dialing your default Dial-Up
Networking (DUN) connection, which is only a feature of Windows
95/98/NT and Microsoft's Internet Explorer. If you are using
Netscape Navigator or AOL (or any other browser for that matter)
to browse on the Internet, you are most likely manually
initiating your local Internet connection, and then once
connected, starting your browser or AOL software. You will need
to follow the same start-up procedure for CAMTools for Windows as
you do for your browser. We have found most clients that are not
using Microsoft's Internet Explorer have a desktop icon that they
click which connects them to their local ISP, and then they click
another desktop icon for their browser. For CAMTools for Windows,
we only need you to click the desktop icon for the Internet
connection, then our software will do the rest (we do not need
your browser to be started). (back to index)
Q. After I've
downloaded my DST files using the NEW (1.00.05) Internet/FTP
option, they are typically unzipped (with a lot of windows
flashing and thrashing) and then I'm presented with the screen to
process the actual data files. Sometimes, though, I get a message
dialog box that says there is a file already on the disk, and do
I want to overwrite it, with buttons for Yes, Yes to All, Rename,
No, and Cancel. What should I do?
A. You want to
select the Yes button. This message dialog box pops up because
the original zip file did not get deleted after it was originally
processed. We're still working on why this happens (especially
when it only happens on some PCs). Also, your cursor may be in
the shape of an hourglass, signifying it's busy. Try positioning
the cursor/hourglass over the message dialog box. It should
return to a pointer, or to whatever the normal operating symbol
that you've designated for your PC's mouse. (back to index)
#06-System Info Mis-Information
Q. When I run the
System Info... option from the Help Menu, the program screen
identifies my CPU as a 486. I'm currently running Windows NT with
a Cyrix 6x86 CPU. Why would that happen?
A. First things
first! CAMTools for Windows calls (or runs) the Microsoft
MSINFO.EXE or MSINFO32.EXE program to display the diagnostic
information that you see on the screen. If you run the 16-bit
version of CAMTools for Windows on a Windows NT machine (32-bit
operating system), CAMTools for Windows cannot call the
MSINFO32.EXE program (can't call a 32-bit program from a 16-bit
one), so it instead loads the MSINFO.EXE program. Since this
program was created before your CPU type was manufactured, it
doesn't identify your CPU type correctly. This may also happen
with other CPU types (AMD, NexGen, Cyrix 5x86, etc.) depending on
when the CPU was manufactured and when the diagnostic software
was written. (back to index)
#07-Access Denied - File Locked or Record Held Errors
Q. Windows 95
locked up on me and I had to reboot (or power down/off). The
program was running fine, but after I started the PC again, I'm
getting an error "Access Denied", "File Is Already
Locked" or "Record is Already Held". How can I fix
this?
A. CAMTools for
Windows (Version 1.00.03 or greater) has a File Maintenance
Utilities option located under the Main Menu, Utilities section
that can address many of these issues. First, try solving the
problem by highlighting the offending file and then selecting the
Release button. The Build button can be used to rebuild file keys
and indices if you think there may be a problem with a particular
file. Please note: the Build and Pack buttons are better left
alone unless you are desperate to try and fix a particular file
problem and Technical Support is unavailable. If you choose to
rebuild any of your files, and your file sizes are extremely
large (100,000+ records), please keep in mind that this may
require a large amount of processing time, during which your
system will be unavailable for other tasks. Please remember that
any file maintenance utilities should be run when there are no
other users in the system. (back to index)
#08-Start Up Error - Moving the CAMTools folder and it's files
Q. When I start
CAMTools, I get any number of errors stating that it can't find
files or that they don't exist! What happened? All I did was
upgrade/replace my hard drive. My computer consultant backed up
my old files and put them on the new hard drive. How can I get
CAMTools to work now?
A. When CAMTools
for Windows is initially installed, it makes note of the hard
drive ( C: or D: or E: etc. ) and the folder it is installed to.
Also, because it does in-place file upgrades, it also keeps track
of the versions of the files and their locations. When you
subsequently move CAMTools to another hard drive (let's say for
arguments sake, the D: drive to the C: drive, which is the most
common), things get out of sync, mainly because it is looking for
some very special files in the old location. The solution is to
use the utility program (MOVEUTIL.EXE) we have coded to fix this
problem. Run this utility program AFTER you have moved CAMTools
for Windows! Follow the instructions below to get your files
re-synced and CAMTools for Windows should work properly.
You can download a copy of this file (MOVEUTIL.ZIP) from our
website. It's located on the Tech Support - Upgrades, Patches and
E-Mail web page.
Place the zip file in the \CAMTOOLS folder on your new drive.
Unzip it into the \CAMTOOLS folder. The program moveutil.exe
should then be present in your \CAMTOOLS folder. Now run the
program - moveutil.exe (double-click on it from Windows Explorer)
and when presented with a window, select the drive you moved the
program to (for example, in this instance it was the C: drive).
This should update the config.dat file and the fm2.ini files
(they contain path references) and erase the upg.tps (our file
that contains upgrade information). All these files usually
reside in the \CAMTOOLS folder. (back to index)
#09-Graph Problem - Windows 95
Q. When I try to
display a graph for any of my client funds, I get an error about
some ...OLE... file and I have to start the CAMTools program
again. I'm running Windows 95 and CAMTools for Windows (32-bit
version) . Why can't I display the graph?
A. There are a
number of possibilities that can cause the graphing tool to
malfunction. Two of the more common causes are: 1) incorrect
support files for the charting tool that we use, and 2) an older,
installed version of Microsoft's OLE (Object Linking and
Embedding), which our charting tool also uses. To address the
first instance, we have listed below the names and versions of
the support files that are used in conjunction with our charting
tool. They should all be located in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.
If you use the Windows Explorer utility program to find these
files, you can then highlight the file, right click on it, and
then select Properties. There will be a tab named Version that
you can select and then the actual version of the file will be
displayed. Compare the version numbers of your system files with
those notated below. If you do not find these files, or you find
older file versions than those listed, you can download the file
MFC42.ZIP from our website. It's located on the Tech Support -
Upgrades, Patches and E-Mail web page. Unzip the downloaded file
in your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. (Since we distribute these files
with our installation program, it is still possible another
application program's uninstall program deleted them, or another
program's install program overwrote them.)
| MFC42.DLL | Version 4.21.7022 or later |
| MSVCRT.DLL | Version 5.00.7022 or later |
| OLEPRO32.DLL | Version 5.0.4055 or later |
To take care of the second instance, you can download from our
website a self-extracting file called OLE22UPG.EXE. It's located
on the Tech Support - Upgrades, Patches and E-Mail web page. It
will upgrade your Windows 95 system to OLE 2.2. Use the Windows
Explorer utility again to find this file and double click on it
from Explorer. It will load the correct files into the
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder and make the proper Windows 95 registry
entries also. (back to index)
#10-Start Up Problems-MAPI-E-Mail
Q. When I try to
start CAMTools for Windows (Version 1.00.06, 16-bit), I get an
error message that one of the following files are missing:
AB.DLL, VFORMS.DLL, STORE.DLL, MAILMGR.DLL, FRAMEWRK.DLL,
DEMILAYR.DLL. Are these files ones that are shipped with CAMTools
for Windows? Why didn't these files load during the install? How
do I correct this situation?
A. These files
comprise the Windows 3.XX mail support and are normally part of a
regular install for Windows 3.XX. They are not shipped with
CAMTools for Windows. CAMTools for Windows is using these files
to enable the Internet E-Mail (MAPI-Mail API) support introduced
with this version. We have placed a zip file (W311MAIL.ZIP) that
contains these files on our Download page for anyone who may need
them. (back to index)
#11-Client Fund Summary Report - Format Error
Q. How come when I
print a Client Fund Summary Report, the footer information
(sometimes) overwrites some of the client's fund information?
A. The report was
enhanced (Version 1.00.06) to print out the marketing and
disclaimer messages a la the Client Statement Reports. When that
was done, we missed re-formatting the detail section of the
report. If your client has enough funds to fill up the page,
those funds will print first, and then the footer (the marketing
and disclaimer messages) information will overlay some of the
last funds printed. We have fixed this and Version 1.00.07 prints
the report correctly.(back to index)
#12-Paid-In Capital Report - Format Error
The
report does not always break properly for fund sub-totals and the
report grand total may not be correct in some instances. These
errors have been corrected and will be included in the next
upgrade, Version 1.00.07 of CAMTools for Windows (32-bit). (back to index)
#13-DST FTP Connection Error - FTPFindFirstFile Failed Error
DST
performed an upgrade (firewall and other security related issues)
to their website over the 7/10/99 weekend and failed to give us
any advance notification; as a result, certain security aspects
of the website were enhanced (this was good), thereby negating
our/your ability to download files (this is bad). We have
corrected/modified our program to reflect these security issues
and posted a fix/patch on our download page. The file name to
download is called DSTFIX32.ZIP (for 32-bit). This patch is only
for the most recent version of CAMTools for Windows (Version
1.00.06). Unzip the file in your \CAMTOOLS folder and overwrite
the existing file (if prompted). The file contained in the zip
file is named CAMWLABL.DLL (back to index)
#14-Start Up Error - Unable to Open UPG File
If you install CAMTools for Windows (Ver. 1.00.07) to any drive except the C: drive, you will get a STOP error dialog window when you first start the program. The error message will be: Unable to Open UPG File - cause 3 Path Not Found Name:C:\CAMTOOLS\upg\!upg2 In order to correct this, you need to edit the FM2.INI file which is located in the \CAMTools folder. Edit the line - path=C:\CAMTOOLS Replace the letter C with the drive letter you installed CAMTools for Windows to. Close the file (save it) and you should be able to start CAMTools for Windows. (back to index)
#15-Invalid Transaction Code - DST File Processing Errors
The capability to import DST Transaction data is dependent on a set of Transaction Codes supplied with CAMTools for Windows. These codes indicate the type of transaction and the effect on the client account (increase to shares, decrease to shares, no effect on share balance, etc.) The core set of transction codes is shipped with every install copy of the program. In between upgrades, it is possible for DST to initiate or validate new codes for mutual fund or annuity companies to beginning using. For this reason, it is important that you maintain your data files and periodically download the file fileupdt.zip located on our support page. Not only will this have a refreshed Transaction Code data file, but all the DST Codes (CUSIP, Fund Code, DST Management ID, etc.) will also be refreshed. Unzip the files in your \CAMTOOLS folder and overwrite the existing files (if prompted). (back to index)
#16-DST FTP Address Change Instructions
Prior to September 20,2002 we recommend you change the IP address for the DST FAN Mail FTP download site.
The address is changing from 207.123.13.78 to files.dstfanmail.com
You need to make the following change in CAMTools for Windows - from the Main Menu, go to Import, then DST Transactions, then DST Transactions (FTP/Internet). On the DST FTP Access window, click the Properties button. In the Fan Mail Site (IP Address) field, replace the 207.123.13.78 with files.dstfanmail.com and then click the OK button. That's it!! (back to index)
#17-DST Price Refresher File Import Error - Auto Increment Error - Creates Duplicate Key (40)
If you are getting the error referenced above when importing/processing DST Price Refresher files, you need to download our Utility program and run the Maintenance option: Resolve DST Price Refresher Problem.
A problem has been discovered in allocating the fund file key and index resources; the DST Price Refresher routine cannot allocate more storage to the file when it needs to create another record. We have created a utility routine that needs to be run on the fund file that will re-allocate the resources devoted to the fund file and allow more records to be created. Follow the instructions below to download the Utility program and then run the maintenance option to fix the problem. Please be sure that you are not running CAMTools for Windows when you attempt this repair.
This problem is being addressed and resolved in Version 1.00.09 and if you have not run into this problem in Version 1.00.08, do not attempt this repair at this time. It will automatically be repaired and resolved when you upgrade to Version 1.00.09.
The file name to download is called UTILITY.ZIP. You can download a copy of this file from our website. It's located on the Tech Support - Upgrades, Patches and E-Mail web page. Save the zip file in the \CAMTOOLS folder on your drive. Unzip it into the \CAMTOOLS folder. The program utility.exe should then be present in your \CAMTOOLS folder. Now run the program - utility.exe (double-click on it from Windows Explorer) and when presented with the main menu window, select the Utilities option, then the menu option, Resolve DST Price Refresher Problem.
That's it!! (back to index)
To ensure the successful delivery of month-end files for May, DST FAN Mail will continue to support FTP file delivery until June 10, 2004. After the 10th, FTP delivery will be cut-off. Beginning June 11, 2004 FAN Mail data will be delivered exclusively through the HTTPS file delivery method. This is a change from the prior communication as noted below that FTP file delivery was going to be cut-off on May 28, 2004.
DST FAN Mail will be discontinuing the FTP delivery process on May 28, 2004. Beginning June 1, files will be delivered through HTTPS only. Please upgrade to Version 1.00.09 if you wish to continue downloading DST files. Version 1.00.09 has both FTP and HTTPS downloading capability to allow for a smooth transition. Please download Version 1.00.09 as soon as possible and then visit the DST FAN Mail website and follow the HTTPS Conversion Instructions carefully to ensure your data is not interrupted.
DST News Update - 10/01/02
DST FAN Mail will begin providing the Non-Financial Activity (NFA) file to all new users receiving data from mutual fund companies that reside on DST's shareholder record keeping system. Additionally, all users of new mutual interfaces will receive the NFA file from inception. This new policy is effective October 14, 2002. CAMTools for Windows does not currently read or import this new file format. We are including this new file format enhancement in our next software version update, Version 1.00.09, which should be released sometime in the second quarter of 2003 (our beta testers found some other problems that we are addressing currently - we are re-testing now - February 2003). When you import/process your DST file data, this new file format will show up in the DST table listing as an unknown file format. For the time being, please delete the file from the processing table.
The NFA file is a daily file that provides acknowledgement of maintenance transactions at the shareholder account level. Some examples of account activity that would generate a NFA file are registration changes, dividend/capital gains distribution option changes or rep of record changes. The FAN Mail Team receives frequent requests for this information, especially from the Dealer level participants. For Broker/Dealers to efficiently use the DST service, the information contained in this file is critical in keeping their account information current and for providing registration information on accounts being transferred from one Broker/Dealer to another. Any Representative level participants will benefit as well by receiving systematic account registration updates. At this time, DST will continue to encourage non-DST companies to also support the NFA file, but, the file type will remain optional.
DST News Update - 06/01/02
Please be advised that on
September 20,2002 FAN Mail's FTP site will be changing
from the IP address of 207.123.13.78 to files.dstfanmail.com
Please make the necessary change
in CAMTools for Windows before this date
.Both addresses are currently "LIVE" so we encourage
you to change as soon as possible.
See FAQ #16 for specific
instructions.
DST News Update - 12/17/01
Please be advised that the FAN
Mail product is in the process of upgrading its FTP software.
They will be moving from version wu-2.4 to wu-2.6.1
The upgrade is scheduled for January 12, 2002
DST News Update - 08/06/01
The FAN Mail group has redesigned the processing infrastructure so that they may provide improved service to FAN Mail users. In doing so, they are changing the way they transmit files to the FTP site. Currently, files that are received within an hour are batched together and then delivered out to the appropriate FTP directory. In today's processing environment, this lends itself to producing files that are larger in size but fewer in number. With the new process, FAN Mail will deliver files out to the FTP directories as they are received. This increases the potential for producing more files that are smaller in size. The change in processing will be effective for the close of business of August 6, 2001.
This is the only impact you will see from the redesign project. The naming convention and method of downloading will not change.
